Day Four
So today I was busy! having discovered how the metro worked and having a better understanding of how to get about I really went for it. First I worked to Andrassy Ut for the post office and to get breakfast before setting off on the metro to Heroes Square which was vast and awe inspiring but I particularly wanted to go the Museum of Fine art however it is closed until 2018! (Should of checked on the internet) anyway I headed off the Vajdahunyad Castle which is a Succession (Victorian) construction to show the different types of Architecture in Hungary. I took photographs of Szechenyi Baths and then headed back to the metro and Franz Liszt's House. You will be pleased to know Olivia that he really did have giant hands!
I then hopped back on to the metro and went to the Opera house but as their tours were later I decided to come back so headed to the Great Synagogue which was beautiful and a surprising happy place. They were focused on the future and not on what happened during the war which was nice. Lovely memorial garden and statues. I went back to the Opera House for the tour and it really is amazing. Beautiful and it would be a lovely treat to have got see a performance but never mind I got to see inside.
So tonight I am off to hear an Organ Concert at St Steven's Basilica and then on to my dinner cruise. I won't have time to log in again before a get back so I will talk to you all soon!
Also ringing endorsement of Piz Buin 1 Day long factor 30 sunscreen. It really has kept me safe and I only have a little redness on my shoulders because of the wave pool at the Gellert Baths!
If I have inspired you to visit Budapest then check out the amazing apartment I stayed in! Authentic and central. Just great. The team were very helpful.
